Mithun Chakraborty, a Big Craze in Russia

For 50 years Raj Kapoor was the only Indian film icon in Russia after his films like 'Awaara' and 'Shri 420' made a thumping impact all over Russia. Now it is Mithun Chakraborty who has joined him. Music director Bappi Lahiri, who has just returned from a concert tour of Russia says, 'Everyone in Russia only wanted to know the latest about Mithun who has become popular in the country after my songs 'I am a Disco Dancer' and 'Jimmy Jimmy Aaja Aaja' from the film 'Disco Dancer'. The songs are now being sung by people of all ages and I had to sing them several times during my shows. The tremendous response of the people to Mithun and my songs have made me plan a show with Mithun all over Russia. Let's see how it works out.'
