In a dramatic turn in the inheritance battle over late industrialist Sunjay Kapur’s vast estate, his sister Mandhira Kapur has launched a blistering public attack on his widow, Priya Sachdev Kapur. On the podcast InControversial with Pooja Chadhuri, Mandhira called Priya’s actions “major theft… major fraud… pure robbery,” accusing her of demanding secrecy at every step of the inheritance process.

Mandhira charged that Priya insisted on non-disclosure agreements (NDAs), submitted the will in a sealed envelope, and strongly resisted any forensic audit. “What are you hiding?” Mandhira asked. She claimed their mother, Rani Kapur, was pressured into signing documents “behind closed doors” soon after Sunjay’s death, when she was “overwhelmed, grieving and vulnerable.” According to Mandhira, “this family has been ripped off everything that belongs to us.”

The core of the dispute is Sunjay Kapur’s estate, estimated at around ₹30,000 crore.  After his sudden passing on June 12, 2025, his children from his earlier marriage to actress Karisma Kapoor—Samaira and Kiaan—challenged a will dated March 21, 2025, which leaves his entire personal estate to his third wife, Priya. The children’s legal team alleges the document is forged, pointing to irregularities in its origin and timeline.

Meanwhile, Priya Kapur has defended herself in court, saying she has already transferred ₹1,900 crore of assets to Karisma’s children from a family trust. The Delhi High Court has ordered her to disclose all movable and immovable assets as of Sunjay’s death date. In response to her complaint, the court also removed Mandhira Kapur’s name from the formal case records, saying she is not a legal party in the proceedings.

As tensions soar, Mandhira vows to continue fighting: “I’m going to fight this till the end… this country needs to wake up and see it,” she said on the podcast.
