Veteran filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt had nothing but praise for Akshay Kumar during the grand finale of The Kapil Sharma Show. The actor appeared on the comedy show to promote his latest film Jolly LLB 3, and Bhatt joined in with a heartfelt anecdote that highlighted Kumar’s fearless nature.

Bhatt recalled a thrilling moment from their 1998 film Angaaray, where Akshay performed a stunt that left even the director shaken. “If Hollywood has Tom Cruise, who is famous for doing his own deadly stunts, we have Akshay Kumar,” Bhatt said. “I saw him perform a stunt with my own eyes, and the thought of it still scares me. In fact, I closed my eyes and ran to the corner.”

The sequence involved Akshay leaping from one building to another, a move so dangerous that Bhatt initially hesitated to give his approval. “The fight master suggested that if the hero jumps across the buildings, the scene will come alive. I agreed but also worried about the risk to his life. But Akshay immediately said, ‘Don’t worry, I’ll do it.’ I told him, ‘You’re my responsibility. What if something goes wrong?’ He simply assured me it wouldn’t.”

Bhatt added that this fearless commitment has defined Akshay’s journey in Bollywood. Known as the “Khiladi” of Hindi cinema, Kumar has built a reputation for taking on high-risk action scenes without body doubles, much like Hollywood superstar Tom Cruise.

With Jolly LLB 3 now in theatres, Bhatt’s words served as both a tribute and a reminder of why Akshay remains one of Bollywood’s most admired action heroes. Jolly LLB 3 has done a business of 52 crore nett in the opening weekend and is set to emerge as a success.
