A brief moment at an award ceremony recently snowballed into a major social media debate after a viral video showed fitness influencer Lakshay Jaggi appearing to ignore actor Rakul Preet Singh while receiving his trophy. In the viral footage, Rakul is seen handing over the award to Jaggi, who accepts it and walks off without a handshake, smile, or visible acknowledgement. The moment triggered widespread chatter, with many social media users questioning his conduct.
Addressing the controversy, Jaggi released a video clarification, insisting that his actions were misunderstood. According to him, the sequence of events just before his turn influenced his reaction. He claimed that an elderly woman who received an award moments earlier had extended her hand, but Rakul did not shake hands with her.
Explaining his side, Jaggi said he did not intend to disrespect anyone. He stated that when he went on stage, he felt there was no established custom of shaking hands at that point and therefore simply accepted the trophy and moved ahead. He also questioned how he could have known that his brief interaction would be perceived as insulting.
Despite his clarification, the clip continues to circulate widely online. Jaggi reiterated that the moment was taken out of context and urged people not to blow the incident out of proportion.
