Bollywood actor Sunny Deol and director Rajkumar Santoshi are set to return to the sets of Lahore 1947 in October, as the much-anticipated period drama enters its final shooting phase. By next week, Deol will be back on location for what is expected to be the last leg of filming.

The upcoming schedule will take place in Punjab, with preparations already in full swing. A source revealed to MidDay, “Sunny and Santoshi sir will shoot most of these newly envisioned sequences in real locations of Punjab. The shoot will begin on October 10 and go on for 12 days.” While the film also stars Preity Zinta and Shabana Azmi, the next schedule will primarily focus on Deol, as the other lead cast members have already wrapped up their parts.

Lahore 1947 went on floors in February 2024, with the team originally aiming for a 2025 release. However, the makers have now decided to extend the timeline to ensure a stronger final product. An insider explained, “But as Aamir, Sunny, and Santoshi sat down to discuss the film’s progress, they unanimously agreed that it was more important to have a superior quality product than compromise on the vision for a quick release.”

With post-production already underway, the film is now expected to release in 2026. Exploring the emotional journey of people caught in the partition of India, Lahore 1947 promises to be an intense cinematic experience rooted in history and human resilience. The film will most likely release in cinemas in the second half of 2026 as Sunny already has Border 2 in January 2026.
