Known for making big-budget love stories and candy romances, Karan Johar, the son of Yash Johar, made his directorial debut at the age of 25 with the cult film Kuch Kuch Hota Hai in 1998, which he also wrote the story and screenplay for. The film, starring Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol and Rani Mukerji, went on to become a major hit and was also the highest grossing Indian movie of the year in India and abroad.
Johar's second film was Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham, which boasted of an ensemble star cast of Amitabh Bachchan, Jaya Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol, Hrithik Roshan and Kareena Kapoor. This film, which revolved around themes of love and family, was a success at the box office too. Since then, Johar has delivered hits after hits with Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna, My Name Is Khan and Student Of The Year.
Johar has also produced hit films like Kal Ho Na Ho, Dostana, Wake Up Sid, Agneepath and Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu. Johar's last directorial project was a short film for the anthology Bombay Talkies.
Johar's upcoming production ventures are Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani and Gori Tere Pyaar Mein.
