Karan Johar: ‘Every Student Of The Year Movie Will Start With A Retro Song’

Karan Johar unveiled the trailer of his Tiger Shroff, Tara Sutaria and Ananya Panday starrer Student Of The Year 2 a day ago and at the trailer launch, the filmmaker announced that all the films of his hit franchise will open with a retro number.

While his 2012 release Student Of The Year had Disco Deewane as the opening song, they have remixed Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani from 1972 release Jawani Diwani for SOTY 2. When asked about it KJo, said, “Student Of The Year’s first song was Disco Deewane and that was also a remix and it’s one of my favourite disco songs from the 80s. So I told Punit that we should repeat this tashan that our first song should be an old song with a retro feel, and my favourite retro song ever is Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani. I have to thank Universal Music for helping us out and giving us the rights to this song. They really supported us along with our label Zee Music. So we have decided that in every Student Of The Year the first song will be a retro hit.”

Directed by Punit Malhotra, Student Of The Year 2 is slated to release on May 10.
