The first official trailer of Kannappa is finally out, and unfortunately, it turns out to be a disappointing affair. The film, featuring Vishnu Manchu in the lead role, attempts to narrate a mythological tale with grandeur but fails miserably on almost every front. Watch the trailer below.
Akshay Kumar makes a special appearance as Lord Shiva, while Prabhas and Mohanlal also feature in extended cameos — yet even their presence doesn’t salvage this underwhelming visual feast. Rather, their prosthetics look bad and of poor quality.
What stands out — or rather, what brings the entire experience down — is the poor quality of visual effects. The CGI looks cheap, unrefined, and rushed, making the entire setting look more like a television serial than a theatrical experience. The trailer’s treatment is loud and exaggerated, stuffed with dramatic dialogues and background score that borders on being irritating rather than impactful.
Adding to the woes is the blatant recycling of tropes from films like Baahubali, Magadheera, and other epic dramas. From flying warriors to slo-mo battle cries, everything feels painfully familiar. The lack of originality and finesse makes Kannappa look like a dated, low-grade attempt at recreating a divine saga.
With such an unimpressive trailer, expectations from the film are already hitting rock bottom. Especially in the Hindi belt, where mythological cinema demands higher standards, Kannappa may struggle to find an audience. The buzz is already low in Hindi and this trailer makes sure that it won't be going up at all.
