Kanguva Opening Day Collections: Decent in Hindi and Tamil

Suriya's Kanguva has taken a decent start at the Indian box office on Thursday. The film is one of the biggest openers for the leading star (Movie Talkies).

Kanguva Opening Day Collections

Siva's ambitious Kanguva, led by superstar Suriya, has taken a decent start on Thursday. Tamil and Telugu films are used to the idea of Thursday release, so we can't argue about low numbers compared to regular Friday release in Hindi. However, it becomes a different case down South. Kanguva is proving it right again.

Kanguva collected approx. 3-3.25 crore nett in Hindi markets, which cannot be called a good opening, but it's decent. Suriya hasn't had many pan-India releases in Hindi, like Prabhas, and Kanguva isn't a sequel, so these numbers are fairly decent. The film added 4.5–5 crore nett more from Telugu versions, which is again a decent total but not good enough.

In the domestic market, aka Tamil version, Kanguva Part One has done better than other languages, expectedly. The epic fantasy drama scored one of the biggest openings and possibly the biggest opening day collections ever for any Suriya movie till date, with collections of approx. 13 crore nett. It might just be his biggest opening day ever. But does that make the number look big since other stars have gone way ahead with opening day figures? 

Speaking of all-India, the opening day figures estimate a total of around 21-21.5 crore nett, which is the biggest opening day figures in Suriya's filmography. The second-day numbers will see a drop due to the regular trend in Tamil and Telugu makets, but the numbers are likely to see a spike in the Hindi market. Let's see...
