After essaying two powerful female icons, Rani Laxmibai in Manikarnika and former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa in her biopic Thalaivi, Kangana Ranaut is all set to play India's first female Prime Minister Indira Gandhi.
The political drama will be helmed by Sai Kabir and is based on a book however, neither the makers nor Kangana has revealed the title of the book. We hear that many prominent faces will be a part of the political drama.
Confirming the reports, Kangana released a statement which reads, "Yes, we are working on the project and the script is in final stages. It is not the biopic of Indira Gandhi, it is a grand period film, to be precise a political drama that will help my generation to understand (the) socio-political landscape of current India."
"Many prominent actors will be part of this film and of course I am looking forward to playing the most iconic leader that we have had in the history of Indian politics," said the actress in her statement.
She also shared a photo in which she is seen dressed as Indira and captioned it as, "This is a photoshoot about iconic women I did in the beginning of my career, little did I know one day I will get to play the iconic leader on screen."
