On Saturday night, the government of India announced the list of recipients of the prestigious Padma Shri Award, India’s fourth-highest civilian honour. Four names from the Bollywood industry were included in the list for being awarded with the honour, which included names like Kangana Ranaut, Karan Johar, Ekta Kapoor and Adnan Sami.
Now everyone is aware about the epic Cold War between Karan Johar and Kangana Ranaut, which originated from the couch of Karan's popular chat show, Koffee With Karan. Kangana in the show accused the producer-host for being the "flag-bearer of nepotism" by launching celebrity kids in the industry. This episode gave rise to the never ending debate on Nepotism in the business, which has yet not died out. Since then, on several occasions the duo has taken a dig on each other, but now it seems like Kangana has kept her differences with Karan aside, as she has sent good wishes to the director and also mentioned how she thinks herself as lucky to have been getting an award alongside big names from the industry like Karan Johar and Ekta Kapoor.
Recently taking about her prestigious win alongside her colleagues, she said, “I started my journey from a small village in Himachal Pradesh, and for me to be in the same league as these bigwigs we have grown up watching, whether it is Karan’s films or Ekta Kapoor’s serials. We knew these people, growing up. And who has not heard Adnan Sami ji’s songs? For a girl like me, to get a Padma Shri alongside them is a matter of pride.”
Further congratulating Karan on his win she said, “I heartily congratulate him. I think he totally deserves this award. As a producer, the kind of films he backs, whether it is Kesari or Good Newwz, are commendable, as is the position he has worked to achieve. Even though his father gave him a head start, he has risen to the top because of his own efforts and merits.”
Kangana was last seen in her latest release Panga, directed by Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari, Miss Ranaut in this film is seen as Jaya, a mother of a 7 year old, who is also a Kabbadi player, trying to get started with the second innings of her life in achieving her goals and aspirations. The actress who is the recipient of three National Awards, has been receiving several praises for her commendable performance in the film.
