A TV journalist named, Ashok Pandey moved to a court on Tuesday seeking registration of a FIR against Bollywood star Salman Khan and his bodyguards for allegedly assaulting him on 24th April, in the wee hours when he tried to film the actor who was riding a bicycle escorted by his two body guards. The journalist, filed a ‘private complaint’ in the court of R R Khan, Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate, Andheri, under IPC sections 323 (causing hurt), 392 (robbery) and 506 (criminal intimidation).
Pandey said he was riding in his car from Juhu to Kandivali with his cameraman and after spotting the actor who is known to be a bicycle enthusiast, he started recording a video after seeking consent from his bodyguards. However, when he started shooting, Salman noticed it and his bodyguards suddenly jumped onto Pandey’s car and started assaulting him.
Even the actor allegedly joined in, assaulted Pandey, snatched his mobile, tried to destroy it and delete important data from it. The trio also threatened him with dire consequences.
Later, Pandey filed his complaint but after nearly two months, officers at the D.N. Nagar police station disposed it off, saying there was no offence in the matter. The journalist then approached the court because the police disposed of his complaint saying that no crime was made out.
In the meantime, Pandey said that Khan’s representative, named Zohaib, called him and reportedly admitted to the misbehaviour and requested him to settle the matter. However, Pandey refused to any settlement.
The application, seeking registration of FIR and probe, will be heard by the magistrate on July 12.
