Sanjay Gupta’s last film Kaabil released in 2017 and was a revenge drama and now, the filmmaker is gearing up to return to his favourite genre. Reportedly, Sanjay’s next will be a gangster drama and he has roped in John Abraham and Emraan Hashmi to play the lead role in it.
Buzz has it that the film will trace the evolution of Bombay to Mumbai. The yet-untitled film will touch upon events like shutting down of textile mills, gang wars, arrival of high rises and the nexus between politicians, cops, businessmen and gangsters.
The movie is inspired by real incidents. Emraan and John will play the protagonists and while one essay the role of a cop, the other will play a gangster. The film will be a cat and mouse game between the two lead characters. The film is set in the 80-90s and is expected to go on floors in July. While John has previously worked with Sanjay in Shootout At Wadala, this is Emraan’s first film with the filmmaker.
Produced by Bhushan Kumar, the gangster drama is expected to release in 2020.
