Shah Rukh Khan had set a new record in January this year with Pathaan, which no one could beat, but he did. Pathaan's first 24-hour ticket sales were 1,17,000, and Jawan surpassed it by 38,000 tickets. That's not huge; it's COLOSSAL, and it's MAMMOTH!Jawan is benefiting from a partial holiday of Janmashtami in a few states, while Pathaan had a national holiday on the second day that helped the night shows on opening day. Who knows what numbers these two films would have scored if they were released on a national holiday.. If Jawan continues at the same speed over the next 3 days, then Pathaan's total advance sales will be defeated with one day still left to add new numbers to the record book.
