Sir Roger Moore, known for his roles as iconic British super spy James Bond in films like Live And Let Die and Octopussy, breathed his last at Switzerland today.
Moore's family confirmed the news on Twitter and informed that he died after a short but brave battle with cancer. A private funeral service has been organised at Monaco in accordance with his wishes, his children said.
Moore took up the mantle of playing Bond after Scottish actor Sean Connery and was known for making Bond more humorous and suave. Apart from the famous Bond movies, Moore was also known for the 1960s TV series The Persuaders and The Saint.
Moore was also known for his humanitarian work and was introduced to UNICEF by the late Audrey Hepburn and was appointed as the goodwill ambassador in 1991.
