Veteran Bollywood actor Jagdeep, who was best known for playing Soorma Bhopali in Sholay, left for his heavenly abode on Wednesday night and he was laid to rest at Mazgaon Shia Kabristan in the presence of family and close friends on Thursday.

The 81-year-old was suffering from age related issues and breathed his last at his Mumbai residence. After his burial, his sons Jaaved Jaaferi and Naved Jafri along with the former's son Meezan addressed the media. Jaaved thanked everyone for their well-wishes and love. He apologised for not being able to respond to all the messages and said, "My father entertained you all for 70 long years and received a lot of support and love from everyone. Please do say a small dua for him."

Jagdeep started his career as a child artiste and was seen in films like Bimal Roy’s Do Bigha Zamin, KA Abbas’ Munna and Guru Dutt’s Aar Paar. In a career spanning over six decades, he acted in over 400 films and featured in movies like Ramsay Brothers' Purana Mandir, Qurbani, Naagin, Brahmachari and Shehenshah. He had also directed a film titled Soorma Bhopali, a spin-off of his own character, and had played the lead role in it.
