Evergreen Anil Kapoor is excited about his return to the silver screen as he gears up for the upcoming family drama Jugjugg Jeeyo. Directed by Raj Mehta, the film also stars Varun Dhawan, Kiara Advani, Maniesh Paul and Neetu Kapoor in the pivotal roles. In a recent media interaction, the forever-young actor has shared exciting details and anecdotes about the film.
Starting off with the character details, Anil Kapoor said, "My character's name in the film is Bheem. He is a businessman who started from scratch and made a big success. He is married and has children. Now he is bored with typical life, so he is looking out for fun and then comes a thought of other women and divorce, as you see in the trailer."
Anil Kapoor has worked with many directors in his career. Raj Mehta is one of the newbies for him. Talking about Raj Mehta's direction skills, he opened up, "Raj makes family entertainers, he's just two films old. Good Newwz and now Jugjugg Jeeyo. What I saw in Good Newwz that it was a very entertaining film, but I didn't find it cringe. It didn't look fake; the comedy and drama, nothing looked forced. Maza aaya dekh ke. What you make relatable yet watchable is the art of the director. I think that's what I liked about him."
Sharing his excitement about working with Neetu Kapoor and the casting process, Mr. Kapoor revealed, "When the film came to me, I didn't know that Neetu ji was part of it. I did it for Karan Johar because of the Yash Johar connection. Yash ji and I always wanted to do a film together. For me, that was the sentiment. Then Karan sent me the script and I liked it, and I met Raj, and we had discussions about making it as good as we could."
"Filmmaking is a team effort. You know, you can't say that one person can make a good film. Everything has to fall into place. Then I came to know about the cast, Neetu ma'm. I think people want to see her because they haven't seen her for a long time," he further added.
How is Jugjugg Jeeyo relatable to today's youth? Forever young actor Anil Kapoor answered, "I say, films are a reflection of society. In this film, it's very contemporary. This is how young couples fight today. These are the problems they face today. I think they will connect with the film. That is the difference between those 80s films and Jugjugg Jeeyo. You have to move with time."
