Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan, who recently attended the grand premiere of Baz Luhrman's film, The Great Gatsby, starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Tobey Maguire, in New York, has impressed several critics from the international media for his performance in the movie.
Scott Fundas, one of Hollywood’s most revered film critics, has written in his Variety Magazine review, heaping positive words for Bachchan, by saying “By far the liveliest work in the film comes from two actors with only a few minutes of screen time between them: the lithe, long-limbed newcomer Elizabeth Debicki as gabby golf pro Jordan Baker, and, in a single scene that marks his belated Hollywood debut, Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan as the flamboyant Jewish “gambler”, Meyer Wolfsheim.”
Bachchan posted an excerpt of this review on his Facebook page, and added, "In shocked disbelief .. no no this cannot be true .. !!!"
The Hollywood Reporter critic Todd McCarthy was also positive, describing it as the film that "feels vibrantly alive while remaining quite faithful to the spirit, if not the letter or the tone, of its source."
We at Movie Talkies congratulate Bachchan for receiving such accolades!
