Last week we broke news about Maryam Zakaria expecting a baby on the coming Valentine's Day. It came as a surprise to one and all as no one was even aware about her wedding, leave aside pregnancy. We managed to catch hold of the young actress (seen in Grand Masti, Agent Vinod and Rowdy Rathore to name a few), who was happy to share details about her secret wedding and journey towards motherhood.

When did you and your choreographer hubby Arvind Thakur meet?

It was six years back and ever since then we have been together. I am lucky as he is a very good man. He very supportive and kind. Otherwise it was very tough for someone like who is not from the industry. At times I wanted to pack my bags and leave. Just to get work and convince people that I can do good is tough. He was always there to support me. I couldn't survive without him. He turned out to be such an understanding partner. There was a time when both of us were struggling. We both wanted so much in life; we fought hard and worked hard.

When were you sure about having a child?

I decided last year that I wanted to have a baby. After Grand Masti last year, I tried to find a better film as I wanted to do certain kind of characters. However they were not happening. This is when I thought of going ahead with a baby and then come back to the industry after some time and try good roles again. I love to have a family. I love children. I wasn't going to let go off something as beautiful as that.

Now that you are expecting, it won't be a year before you resume work. Don't you fear missing out on opportunities that could have come your way?

For me my work is passion; it will find its way. Everyone who works has a family, so what's wrong with someone from the film industry to raise a family? In Hollywood there are actors who are 50-60 year old and are still working. Eventually it doesn't matter what's your age or the number of children you have. One should live life to the fullest.
