Hugh Jackman has officially confirmed that the third Wolverine movie will be his last time playing the role that he has owned in the X-Men film franchise.
"This will be my last one," Jackman said when asked about the upcoming Wolverine film on the "Dr. Oz Show" Friday.
He said that he felt it was the right time to do this and that he never thought that it would last 17 years. Hugh thanked the fans for giving him the opportunity and encouragement to play the iconic character for so long.
Jackman emphasized that he just felt it in his head that this would be the last time and it would be the perfect way to go out.
Earlier on, Jackman had shared this news with his online fans.
Jackman had tweeted: 'WOLVERINE ...ONE LAST TIME. HJ instagram.com/p/0x7TKcihJw/ ' (sic) along with an Instagram picture link which depicted his now famous claws from the franchise.

This leaves space for speculations as to whether or not Jackman will be making an appearance in X-Men:Apocalypse, which opens before the next Wolverine, but he hasn’t been seen on set in Motreal so far.
Any which way, Jackman’s Wolverine has been the most iconic role in the franchise since he first played Logan in the original X-Men. The character was even used as the through line to bring the original and prequel trilogies together in X-Men:Days of Future Past. Jackman's presence is sure going to be difficult to replace.
The third Wolverine movie is slated to release in 2017 when the beast will be uncaged for the last time.
