Hrithik Roshan’s maternal grandfather, veteran filmmaker J Om Prakash passed away on Wednesday, in Mumbai. He was 93.

J Om Prakash breathed his last at his Mumbai residence, this morning. His funeral was held at the Pawan Hans crematorium in Vile Parle, Mumbai. Hrithik and his dad, Rakesh Roshan performed his last rites. Amitabh Bachchan and Abhishek Bachchan also came to his funeral to pay their last respects.

He had marked his directorial debut with Rajesh Khanna, Mumtaz and Sanjeev Kumar starrer Aap Ki Kasam in 1974. Hrithik had also starred as a child artiste in two of his films, Bhagwan Dada and Aasha.

Hrithik was very close to his nana and during the promotions of Super 30 he had called him his ‘super teacher’. “MySuperTeacher - My Nana who I lovingly call Deda, for the lessons he has taught me at every stage of my life, which I share with my kids now. And Dr Oza, my speech therapist as a child, who taught me to accept my weakness and helped me overcome my fear of stammer," the actor had written along with a few pics with his granddad.

We at MovieTalkies offer our condolences to the Roshans.
