Housefull 5, which started off with decent box office numbers, has now seen a major drop in collections, earning just ₹1.25 crore on its third Friday. The release of Sitaare Zameen Par has significantly impacted the film’s performance, pulling audiences away and putting the comedy entertainer in a tough spot.

The film had a decent start with ₹113 crore nett in its opening week, which wasn't really good, followed by ₹37 crore in its second week. With the third Friday’s ₹1.25 crore, the film’s total now stands at ₹151.5 crore nett. It is expected to reach around ₹155-156 crore by the end of the third weekend.

However, the sharp decline in collections raises concerns for the weekdays ahead. To reach the ₹170 crore mark, Housefull 5 will need to maintain a strong hold in the coming days. But the current trend suggests a struggle, especially as word-of-mouth and competition from new releases tighten the race. The content has not resonated well with audiences, and that, coupled with a high production budget, is proving to be a tough combination to overcome.

Unless there’s a surprising turnaround, the film appears to be heading towards an “average” verdict at best. If it fails to sustain even at this level, it could end up as a below-average grosser—a setback considering the scale and expectations attached to the franchise. From here on, the battle is not for profit but for survival in the success bracket.
