One of the most talented and yet under-rated actor of contemporary Bollywood, Akshaye Khanna, the son of 70s star Vinod Khanna, made his film debut with Himalay Putra, which was not a box office success as such.

However, in his next movie Border, where Akshaye played the role of a young Army officer, the young actor exonerated himself and earned rave reviews for his portrayal of a sensitive soldier, who nevertheless displays exemplary courage on the battlefield. Following this, Khanna again starred in a number of films, out of which a few were hits like the musical love story Taal. Once more, it was his role in Farhan Akhtar directed Dil Chahta Hai that made people sit up and take notice.

Khanna then decided to tackle comedy and acted in a few films directed by Priyadarshan like Hungama and Hulchul, which proved to be hits. Akshaye then shone again with his performance in Gandhi My Father, which revolved around the story of Harilal, the son of Mahatma Gandhi and the trials he faces in life because of his father's adherence to honesty and principles.

Akshaye Khanna, a self admitted reclusive actor, was last seen as common man Bhaarat in Gali Gali Chor Hai, a satire on the corruption in the system.

On the occasion of his birthday, here's wishing the talented Akshaye Khanna a prosperous and healthy life.
