Though Shahid Kapoor’s last release Kabir Singh turned out to be a blockbuster, the film, which reeked of toxic masculinity, received major flak for being misogynistic and now, a fan of the film has murdered a flight attendant.

Tik Tok star Johnny Dada aka Ashwini Kumar was obsessed with Dubai-based flight attendant Nitika Sharma and when he got to know that she was getting married to someone else he murdered her. After killing her, Ashwini, who was already wanted in three murder cases, committed suicide.

When the Bijnor police investigated, they found out that the man was very impressed with Shahid Kapoor’s Kabir Singh and would often post his pictures from the movie. He had also posted a video, in which he was seen mouthing the film’s dialogue ‘Jo mera nahin ho sakta, usse kisi aur ke hone ka mauka nahin doonga’.

When asked to comment on the gruesome murder and suicide case, Kabir Singh's director Sandeep Reddy Vanga said that he feels sorry for the girl’s family however, he added that neither his film nor his protagonist endorsed killing anyone.

About time filmmakers start taking responsibility of their movies.
