Has jinx around New Year movie release continued with 2014? <Anupa - Bangalore>

A few cynics have been quick to attribute the box office failure of Mr Joe B. Carvalho it to the jinx of First Friday release of the year. However, the argument doesn't really hold water. Otherwise what else explains the collections of Sholay 3D as well as Marathi film Timepass, both of which have together accumulated around 25 crore in the first week. Add to this 3 crore of Mr Joe B. Carvalho, 20 odd crores of Dhoom 3, 5 odd crores of other Bollywood/Hollywood releases and over 50 crore did come in a single week.

Now this equates to very good footfalls in theatres!

Considering the fact that these are just collections for movies that are playing in belts that are otherwise dominated by Hindi films (and hence no other regional languages films are included here, be it in Tamil, Telugu or Malayalam), where is the jinx?
