publive-imageThe breaking news for all cinegoers is that the GST Council has decided to cut the GST rate on food served in cinema halls. It has been a topic of discussion for a while now, and many cinema lovers have been talking about it on the internet. It seems that their requests have finally been heard.

The finance minister of India, Hon. Nirmala Sitaraman, has decided to cut the GST rate on food and beverages served inside cinema halls. The GST applied to F&B was 18%, and the new rates are reduced to 5%. This will be a big relief for the buyers, as the reduction of 13% will reduce the MRP of the product.

"It was clarified by the council today that food and beverages in cinema halls will attract 5% and not 18% GST," said Sanjay Malhotra, Revenue Secretary in the 50th meeting of the council today.
