Geeta Basra is back, and she is making a worthy appearance as Gippy Grewal's 'first wife' in Second Hand Husband. For the UK girl with Punjabi roots who has made Mumbai her home for close to 10 years now, it was about time that she did something altogether contrasting when compared to The Train (with Emraan Hashmi) which fetched her quite some acclaim in the bold negative portrayal of a scheming person. Not willing to be typecast in similar characterization, Geeta decided to wait and watch before something altogether contrasting came her way. This is when a family comedy Second Hand Husband came calling.
As for Harbhajan Singh, the man who is certainly one of the most integral parts of Geeta's personal life, is reacting well to her as well as the film.
When asked about the feedback that Harbhajan has shared with her on the film, Geeta said, "Well, he has appreciated my look in the film for sure. It is nice to get good feedback, especially from people close to you, which includes my family and my friends. They like the feel of it all and that is a great positive feedback for sure."
Meanwhile, one can't help but ask Geeta about her personal life. Since she gets married to Harbhajan at least once every year, what is the date on the cards for the year 2015?
"Wait, it is not once every year but twice a year that I get married to him," she chuckles, "See, every girl has to get married one day and I too would talk about that when the time is ready. Otherwise I believe it is so unfair when people start talking and writing about things that even I am unaware of. Koyi kehta hai taiyaari ho rahi hai, koyi venue decide kar leta hai, koyi farmhouse ka address de deta hai - all of this is going on year after year."
Geeta confesses that it has all got a little tedious now.
"I have always maintained that I would be the first person to announce my marriage. Whenever that happens, it would be in full Punjabi style. Wahi toh maza hai Punjabi shaadi ka. Masti hogi aur sab kuch bindaas tareeke se hoga. Rest assured, there would be a lot of pomp and show; aakhir Punjabiyon ki shaadi hai" gleams Geeta.
Well, we are looking forward to the invitation for sure.
