Deepika Padukone is playing an acid-attack survivor in her maiden production venture Chhapaak and the actress will be seen sharing screen space with four real acid-attack survivors in the movie.
Talking about the girls and their grit and courage, director Meghna Gulzar said, “When we met those girls, when we interacted with them, we have four survivors acting in our film, they are playing full-fledged roles and not just there for a song, for me the biggest revelation was that we all have an inner strength within us, which is very immense and strong, and we only realize it when we face a traumatic circumstance. We don’t realize how strong we actually are, this is what I learnt from all these girls that the real strength that they used to overcome these circumstances of life was incredible.”
The film is inspired by the life of acid-attack survivor Laxmi Agarwal and the film, which also stars Vikrant Massey, will release on January 10.
