Mohit Suri's latest release Hamari Adhuri Kahani has collected only Rs. 22.57 crore, till now, which is a far cry from the collections of his previous blockbusters. While Mohit lost his Midas touch with this film, here are five reasons why we feel this film failed at the box-office.

Sad Saga:

Trust us when we say there is not a single happy scene in the movie. In this pathos-ridden film, there is an overdose of glycerine and every character has a sob story to tell, which then gets interconnected and the poor audiences are left to wonder, what wrong did we do to deserve this! Bhagwaan ye mere kaunse paapo ki saza de rahey ho buhuhuhu……

Dialogue Debacle:

Main sadhak pe padha koi sikka nahi kisi aur ki milkhiyat hu! What? Seriously who talks like this in today's day and age. The story and the dialogues are so archaic that it failed to strike a chord with the younger lot.

Illogical Screenplay:

Spoiler alert here but we have to tell you what all did we find quite illogical in the film. Vidya leaves for Dubai but what happens to her son in the meanwhile remains a mystery. In another scene Balan decides that she doesn't want to lead on Emraan Hashmi and hence leaves the hotel, in which she was working in Dubai. Strangely enough, she doesn't take a cab but decides to walk through the vast, hot and barren desert and as expected, Emraan finds her soon after she leaves. We feel she only wanted to act pricey to get some more 'bhaav' from Emmy LOL. The audiences are left to believe that Emraan loses his step-father in a car accident however, later it is revealed that he is alive but in coma. Now why this info was not given earlier? Was it such a big suspense, that it required to be told in instalments? We also wonder how Emraan and his on-screen mum, who were very poor earlier, afforded to keep him on life support system for so long… These are just a few examples, there is no dearth of such silly sequences in the movie.

Casting Catastrophe:

The casting director of this film certainly missed it by a mile. Vidya looked elder to both her leading men- Rajkummar Rao and Emraan Hashmi. We loved Vidya's performance but we won't be exaggerating if we say that Amala Akkineni, who played Hashmi's mother, looked spunkier than Vidya in the one scene that they had together. Performances were good but because of the odd pairing, it just failed to entice the cine-goers.

Music:

While Mohit Suri is known for having an ear for music, this film's songs failed to work its magic on music lovers. The songs are very forgettable and hence could not create that buzz around the film.
