FIR Filed Against Ranveer Singh:

Bollywood star Ranveer Singh is facing fresh legal trouble after a First Information Report (FIR) was registered against him in Bengaluru on January 28, 2026, over allegations that he hurt religious sentiments by mimicking a sacred ritual during a public event.

The FIR was lodged at the High Grounds Police Station following a complaint by advocate Prashanth Methal, who claimed Singh’s imitation of the Daiva tradition from the Kannada film Kantara Chapter 1 was disrespectful and offensive to deeply held beliefs of devotees.

According to the complaint, Singh reportedly performed the mimicry at the closing ceremony of the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa on November 28, 2025, where he praised Kantara and imitated expressions associated with revered Daiva spirits.

The FIR states that Singh’s performance, described by the complainant as “crude, comical, and derogatory,” included referring to the Chavundi Daiva — a guardian deity respected in coastal Karnataka traditions — as a “female ghost,” which allegedly hurt religious sentiments.

The case has been registered under sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for acts that allegedly insult religious beliefs and promote enmity. Legal proceedings will continue, with the matter scheduled for further hearing in a Bengaluru court.

The Dhurandhar actor had previously issued a public apology after social media backlash over the incident, stating that his intention was to praise the Kantara performance, not offend anyone’s beliefs. Singh or his team is yet to react on this fresh legal matter.
