Fathers Still Rule the Roost

In Bollywood, the fathers still seem to be ahead in the race. Be it the case of Amitabh Bachchan and Abhishek Bachchan or Jeetendra and Tusshar Kapoor, or the latest father son duo who are active in Bollywood, Mithun Chakraborty and his son Mimoh. Without intending to write off the son, one can safely say that the son still has a long way to go.

Post the release of Jimmy, Mimoh has finally arrived on Bollywood. His debut film did showcase his dancing abilities, but where acting is concerned, Mithunda has a definite edge over his son. Mithun made a mark with his very first Hindi film, Mrigaya, directed by Mrinal Sen. It won him a National Award for Best Actor. Of course, it's another story that subsequently, Mithun switched to roles like the one he did in films like Suraksha and Disco Dancer to earn his bread and butter. Mimoh, on the other hand, has a long way to go where acting is concerned. But the father left no stone unturned in inviting his contemporaries to come and bless his son at Jimmy's premiere on Thursday. The evening turned up with actress Madhuri Dixit, an old associate of Mithun, making an appearance with her husband Sriram Nene. There were other oldies like music composer Bappi Lahiri and actor Danny Denzongpa who were present on the occasion. It seems that Shah Rukh Khan too had been invited but could not attend as was in Kolkata for the Knight Riders' IPL match. Now it remains to be seen, how Mimoh charts his course in Bollywood.
