Sooraj Barjatya's Uunchai, starring Anupam Kher, Amitabh Bachchan, Boman Irani, Sarika, Neena Gupta, and Parineeti Chopra, is scheduled to hit the cinemas on November 11, 2022. Neena Gupta plays a pivotal role in the family drama, which revolves around friendship. The actress opened up about many details during an exclusive interaction with us.What does Uunchai, the word and the film, mean to Neena Gupta? The actress had a beautiful answer: "Uunchai is a very important film for me. Sooraj Ji has made a very different film this time. You remember the Bimal Roy kind of cinema where he used to tackle some social issues - that's what Sooraj ji has done in Uunchai."Sharing some details about her character in the film, the actress told us, "I play the role of Shabina, a wife of Anupam's character. I am a regular housewife; I have a daughter, and her world revolves around them. I look after everything they do, but at the end there is a culmination of my character, which will have to be looked out for."Neena Gupta also shared that Uunchai is a relatable subject for today's young audiences. She went on to say, "It is a very nice film for the youngsters because they will realise what they are doing to their parents. They should not do that to their parents. They should make them happy. I had a wish to take my father on a trip, but that didn't happen. So I think this film will encourage youngsters to do that."About her working experience with director Sooraj Barjatya, she shared, "When I was waiting, I thought I would take some tips from him about the acting, but then he makes you so comfortable. I don't know; there is a simplicity. You can approach him. You can hug him. He is very humble. Too good."

How did Sooraj Sir and Rajshri Productions think of making a film like Uunchai, which is far from the regular family dramas they have made in the past? Neena Gupta revealed, "He (Sooraj sir) only said that he wants to make different films, but the values are still the same. He said during the COVID time you got the idea and wanted to make a film on it. He felt like making this kind of film. He wanted to break all the strings and make the film he wanted."
