Milap Zaveri is back with another mass action entertainer. This time it's a sequel to his own hit film Satyameva Jayate (2018), starring the same hero John Abraham. Satyameva Jayate 2 is coming to cinemas on 25th November 2021 and the director is all excited about the release. Let's read what he has to say about the film.
"Satyameva Jayate 2 is a fresh story, it's not continued from the first part. But the topic is the same. In the first part it was about corruption in the police force and this time it's about corruption on a national level. John Abraham is the same and Nora Fatehi is the constant factor (laughs). John plays three roles, one is a cop who is abided by the law, the other brother is a vigilante who takes law in his hands and their father is a larger than life patriot."Talking about his equation with John Abraham, Milap Zaveri opens up, "John Abraham is my real life role. I am sitting in front of you because of him. He is that one actor who has kept faith on me, on my vision. When I wrote the script it was only about two brothers then came the father's role and I think the father's role is the best. I have grown up watching films of Prakash Mehra, Manmohan Desai, Rakesh Roshan ji and this film is my humble tribute to those people."
Replying to how Divya Khosla Kumar came on board he said, "Lots of people would have thought that Bhushan ji must have pressurised me but it's nothing like that. He had no clue, the idea came to my producer Monisha Advani. Divya has been doing music videos, she is very pretty and she is very talented. I wanted an actress who doesn't have baggage and any contemporary actress would have had issues about her role as John is playing a triple role in the film. Compared to what was in part one, Divya has a lot to do in part two of Satyameva Jayate."
Delighted to see the box office success Rohit Shetty's Sooryavanshi is enjoying, Milap adds, "Indian mass cinema has two phases– before Sholay and after Sholay and now it will be before Sooryavanshi and after Sooryavanshi. That film has fought pandemic and brought audiences back to cinema halls. Our idea is to ride on the path of Sooryavanshi. I have seen videos on social media that people are shouting, whistling when they saw Satyameva Jayate 2 trailer on screen during Sooryavanshi screening. That helps a lot to my film because we are targeting the same audience."
The last film of John Abraham didn't do well at the box office, does that affect this film? Milap Zaveri answers, "Sidharth Malhotra hadn't given a hit film for 6 years before Marjaavaan. Still, I made a film with him and he gave me a Hit. John Abraham is my Amitabh Bachchan. Who am I to talk about him and his box office reach?"
