Karan Johar’s latest production venture, Kalank has now become a certified flop. The film opened well and became the biggest opener of the year however, the audiences have rejected the lacklustre movie.
The partition drama released on April 17 and despite having two holidays, Mahavir Jayanti and Good Friday in between, the film failed to get the audiences to the theaters due to poor word of mouth.
Even after having an extended opening weekend and a stellar star cast, the film couldn’t reach the 100 crore mark, in fact it missed it by miles. The film earned Rs. 21.06 crore on Wednesday, Rs. 11.45 crore on Thursday, Rs. 11.60 crore on Friday, Rs. 9.75 crore on Saturday and Rs. 11.63 crore on Sunday. The total now stands at a meager 66.03 crore.
The film will get totally finished once Avengers: End Game releases this weekend. It is exactly what we had predicted for this 150 crore debacle, which is all set to become Karan Johar’s biggest flop till date. About time for KJo to start focusing on his scripts! Better content and less gloss, will take him a long way.
Directed by Abhishek Varman, Kalank stars Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan, Sanjay Dutt, Madhuri Dixit, Aditya Roy Kapur, Kunal Kemmu and Sonakshi Sinha in the lead roles.
