Ekta Kapoor found herself in a rather awkward position as the lead actress of her upcoming film Mental Hai Kya got into a verbal spat with a journalist at the film’s song launch event.
The actress accused the journalist of running a smear campaign against her even before he could ask her a question. The journalist refuted her allegations and told her to stop intimidating him from a position of power.
The Entertainment Journalist Guild of India has asked Kangana to apologise and they also met Ekta a day ago, asking her to take a stand on the matter. Ekta’s banner Balaji Motion Pictures has now issued an apology stating that they regret the ‘unfortunate’ incident. However, they didn’t mention their female protagonist’s name anywhere in the letter.
Balaji’s statement reads:
A lot is being reported about the debate that ensued between our film JudgeMentall Hai Kya’s actor and journalist Justin Rao, at the film’s song launch event on July 7th, 2019. Unfortunately, the event took an unpleasant turn.
While the people involved in it fairly held their own perspectives but because it happened at the event of our film, we, as the producers, would like to apologize and express regret for this untoward incident.
We would like to maintain that our intention was not to disrespect or hurt anyone’s sentiments.
Our film JudgeMentall Hai Kya releases on July 26th and we urge the media to not let this one incident hamper the team effort that has gone behind making the film
The media has boycotted the actress and has demanded a public apology from the female star.
