Eight Ways Praful Patel Is Different From Real-Life Simran, Sandeep Kaur

Kangana Ranaut is playing a bank robber, Praful Patel in her latest release Simran and the Hansal Mehta-directed crime comedy is inspired by Sandeep Kaur, who got convicted for robbing four banks in the US in April 2015.

While there are many similarities between Sandep and Praful, we also spotted the following differences:

1. While Sandeep Kaur is a Sikh, Kangana’s Praful is a Gujarati girl.

2. Sandeep Kaur was a nurse however, Simran’s protagonist works in the housekeeping department of a hotel.

3. Kangana is playing a 30-year-old divorcee in the movie but Sandeep was only 24 when she robbed the banks.

4. While Sandeep earned the nickname Bombshell Bandit by the FBI, in the film Ranaut is called by the moniker Lipstick Bandit.

5. Sandeep has a younger brother but Kangana’s character is shown as a single child.

6. Sandeep used to stay in San Jose however, Praful used to reside in Atlanta.

7. Kaur’s parents got divorced later but Hansal Mehta’s film showed Praful’s parents together. Kaur’s father was a taxi driver and Patel’s father owns a ‘farsaan’ store in the movie.

8. Praful was sentenced to just ten months in prison but Sandeep Kaur has been sentenced to 66 months in jail.
