Cinema enthusiasts, expressly those who are abiding admirers of Dimple Kapadia can rejoice. Dimple will play the lead in Viacom 18’s next titled Daana Paani, pipping several other seasoned and veteran actresses to the casting post.
A source from the crew says, "The role was narrated to the Bobby actress, to Shabana Azmi and to Deepti Naval. Shabana loved the script and the character and immediately agreed to do the film. It was a tough decision for producers to chose between the three talented actors, but they eventually picked Dimple."
Reportedly, the flick is a "madcap comedy" along the lines of Dibakar Banerjee‘s films, as one insider puts it, because of it’s Delhi backdrop and dialect.
The movie has an ensemble cast and features actors like Manu Rishi and Manjot Singh of Oye Lucky Lucky Oye fame and Sumit Suri from Khatron Ke Khiladi. Daana Paani is being helmed by Gurmeet Singh, who assisted Ashutosh Gowariker in Jodhaa Akbar.
Shedding light on the basic plotline, an insider reveals, "Dimple has to go out of town for a month. She has a fish aquarium and needs someone to feed her fish. She tells her niece to look after them in her absence. After she leaves, her niece also goes away for some urgent work and passes the responsibility of feeding the fish to her fiance. This task gets passed on to as many as 12 people."
Daana Paani kickstarted it’s cinematic trail four days ago in Faridabad.
