Deepika Padukone and Priyadarshan, who had a major fallout five years ago when the leggy lass opted out of his project Pirates, have finally decided to bury the hatchet and are coming together for the filmmaker's next project.
Priyadarshan wanted to launch Padukone with his film, which was supposed to feature her with four other newcomers playing part of a music band. However, Deepee decided to debut with the Shah Rukh Khan starrer Om Shanti Om.
Post this incident, the duo maintained distance from each other, until 2008, when SRK persuaded Priyadarshan to feature her in an item song for Billu.
And now after a sabbatical of four long years, the director has reached out to Deepika for Shree Ashtavinayak Cine Vision's 'family comedy' (as he dubs it), which will star Abhishek Bachchan as the male lead.
"Abhishek and I have been planning projects together for the longest time. We were supposed to do a bio-pic on Chandrashekhar Azad. But who watches historicals any more? I've finally zeroed in on the perfect project for Abhishek. We start shooting in July," the filmmaker was quoted to have said.
