Did Sanjay Gupta take a dig at Namit Malhotra's Ramayana:

Filmmaker Sanjay Gupta appears to have taken a subtle dig at Namit Malhotra's recent statement regarding the massive budget of the upcoming Ramayana film. Malhotra, the CEO of Prime Focus and a key producer on the project, recently stated during a podcast that the two-part epic would cost around Rs. 4000 crore. The figure stunned fans and industry insiders alike, given its unprecedented scale for an Indian production.

Shortly after the clip went viral, Sanjay Gupta took to his X (formerly Twitter) handle and wrote, "MATRIX, LORD OF THE RINGS, AVATAAR, DUNE, STARWARS, etc. All films with groundbreaking never seen before VFX. None spoke about it before the release. They let the work speak for itself."

Though Gupta didn’t directly mention Ramayana or Malhotra, the timing and context led many to believe he was subtly questioning the need to disclose such massive budget figures before release. His post suggests that cinematic brilliance should be experienced, not advertised prematurely. The comments under the tweet are talking about Ramayana budget, while some are trolling Gupta for his words.

Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, Ramayana is a two-part mythological film that promises a visual spectacle. It stars Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram, Sai Pallavi as Sita, and Yash is reportedly playing Ravan. With cutting-edge VFX and a global production scale, the film has already generated huge buzz. However, Gupta's post reminds the industry and fans that, no matter the scale, the final product should speak louder than the numbers behind it.
