Dhurandhar was released on December 5, 2025, and the reviews have been decent to positive. The film hasn’t been rejected by the audience, which is enough to keep it afloat. Yet, the makers seem to have gone the wrong way to ensure big numbers that could help recover its massive budget, hoping the second film gets a chance during Eid 2026. But are inflated numbers without actual collections really worth it?

Dhurandhar Box Office Day One Sees A 30% Block Bookings Push—Where’s The Fair Value We Were Talking About?

As per a report by Pinkvilla, the organic weekend collection of Dhurandhar stands around ₹65–70 crore nett, while the trade site Box Office India supports similar day-to-day data, putting the film at ₹70 crore nett for its opening weekend. However, when corporate bookings are included, the number jumps to ₹86 crore nett — and the producers have declared a huge Weeknd of ₹106 crore nett. That’s a gap of ₹20 crore nett in just three days, and with the organic figures considered, the difference widens to ₹36 crore nett. A baffling margin.

BOI also mentioned that other films have adapted this corporate booking trend for inflated numbers, but nothing has been witnessed on the scale of Dhurandhar. “Nothing like this has been seen before, as it makes Sky Force and Bhul Chuk Maaf look like child’s play. Also, it seems like the makers don’t even want to hide what they are doing. There is no embarrassment in the feeding whatsoever, and only God knows what this will lead to in 2026,” BOI wrote in their latest report.

Speaking of manipulation — that is, the difference between trade figures and producers’ numbers — Dhurandhar appears to be achieving new heights. Previously, Krrish 3 (2013) faced similar accusations due to a large discrepancy. As per producers, Krrish 3 had a weekend of ₹72 crore nett, whereas BOI figures stood at ₹49 crore nett — a ₹23 crore difference over first 3 days. Dhurandhar has already surpassed that gap by a wide margin and may even break records for lifetime discrepancies.

Reportedly made on a huge budget of ₹250 crore+, Dhurandhar needs more than ₹230 crore nett for theatrical break-even. That could explain why the makers are pushing corporate bookings and manipulation to new extremes. I mean, obviously the 70 crore nett would have made the film look like a flop already. But this way, will it make profits? No — the film is more likely to incur losses, and anyone with basic industry knowledge can see that. Logically, the amount put for self bookings is another investment by makers, which ultimately increases the budget. The makers are surely aware too. So what exactly are they trying to achieve?

Worse, does this mean we’ll see such malpractices rise in the future? If so, Dhurandhar might unfortunately become the new benchmark for inflated box office numbers.
