It took Dharmendra more than fifty years to fulfil his ambition to act in a Punjabi film. His dream has finally been fulfilled with a film made under the banner of Subhash Ghai's Mukta Arts. Dharmendra has gone all out to give his best as an actor even at a time when he is seventy eight. The film is an out and out comedy but also has heavy doses of all the elements of a wholesome entertainer. The film seems to have been made on the scale of any big Hindi film, the only difference being in the language and the locations.

It is a grand experience for the Punjabi audience to have their ''son of the soil'' (Dharmendra was born in Phagwara district in Punjab) in his best form. He has songs and dances and some of the most funny and also emotional lines to speak in the film. In short, Double Di Trouble is more than what was expected by the lovers of Punjabi cinema. To add to the entertainment value of the film, it has Gippy Grewal, the number one star in Punjab playing the son of Dharmendra and some pretty women like Poonam Dhillon, Minissha Lamba, Kulraj Randhawa and the popular comedian Gurpreet Ghuggi. Dharmendra took his first challenge to head the cast of a Punjabi film so seriously that he did not consider many other Hindi films which were offered to him during the last one year. The film is also laced with some very popular music which is a blend of both the old and the new. The film has been the talk of Punjabi films ever since Dharmendra agreed to do it and the wait will soon be over when people can expect double the entertainment when the film is released all over Punjab and different parts of the world on 29th August.
