Shahid Kapoor's Deva opens low:
Shahid Kapoor and Pooja Hegde's action thriller, Deva, opened in cinemas yesterday. The film suffered from low buzz and opened to poor occupancy in the morning and noon shows. The situation did not improve throughout the day, except for some decent footfalls in the night shows in urban centers. The film is a washout in mass belts, especially B and C centers, due to its theme.

Deva collected approximately 5.40-5.50 crore nett on day one, which is a low total for the kind of budget this film has. Word of mouth will come into play today and tomorrow, as the film needs to show almost a double jump for a respectable total over the weekend. Such thrillers usually see a heavy drop on weekdays, so Deva is heavily relying on Saturday and Sunday jumps, as multiplexes typically benefit on weekends due to ticket prices and family audiences.
Deva Review: A Poor Retelling of Deva-stating & Derogatory Thriller
Compared to the last few movies of Shahid Kapoor, Deva has the second lowest opening day after Jersey (2022). Interestingly, both movies were south-remakes. Additionally, one must consider the elevated ATP (average ticket price) of Deva, which is higher than the previous one, yet the numbers are this low.
