The Accidental Prime Minister
The makers of The Accidental Prime Minister can heave a sigh of relief as the Delhi High Court on Monday rejected a plea seeking ban on the trailer of the Anupam Kher-Akshaye Khanna starrer.
The plea was filed by a Delhi-based designer named Pooja Mahajan, who had alleged that the film was maligning former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh’s image. The petitioner also alleged that by playing the characters of Manmohan Singh, Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi, without their permission, the actors have also committed offences under Section 416 of the IPC and therefore CBFC should not grant it a certificate for screening of the movie.
The HC disposed Mahajan’s plea and directed the petitioner to change the plea to a PIL as the movie involves the office of prime minister and then approach the division bench.
Based on Sanjaya Baru’s eponymous book, The Accidental Prime Minister is slated to release on January 11.
