Deepika Padukone on playing Ranveer Singh’s onscreen wife, Romi Bhatia in 83

Deepika Padukone is all set to play Kapil Dev's wife, Romi Bhatia in Kabir Khan directed ‘83’ where Ranveer will be seen playing the role of Kapil Dev.

Like Ranveer, who practiced with cricketer Kapil Dev and spent 10 days at his house in Delhi to get into the skin of the character, Deepika too will be too seen spending some time with Romi Bhatia to understand her point of view. Talking about Romi, Deepika said that very little is known about her.

Deepika's family has been friends with the Dev’s for years because of her father Prakash Padukone, former Indian badminton player, who is also one of the renowned faces of the sports fraternity. Talking about the same the actress shared that there isn’t a lot of material available on Romi Bhatia and that she has met her a few times, including her own wedding reception and that she has interacted with her socially over the years. The actress further added that she is also referring to whatever material the director’s team has sent across to her.

For Deepika’s parents having known their family for many years now, she feels she  knows her too and hopes that Romi is proud and happy with the film and the actress. The actress concluded by saying that she intends to connect and spend some time with her before she start filming, to be able to understand her perspective better. When asked if she’ll sport Romi’s trademark cropped hair, Deepika teased that her fans would have to wait and watch.

83 will mark Ranveer and Deepika's fourth film together. The couple first shared screen space in Goliyon Ki Raasleela: Ram Leela, after that they were seen in Bajirao Mastani and Padmaavat. Interestingly, all the three films have been directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali.

83 is directed by Kabir Khan and produced by Reliance Entertainment is all set to release on April 10, 2020.
