At the recently held trailer launch event of Akshay Kumar and Kareena Kapoor Khan starrer Good Newwz, when producer Karan Johar was asked about pay parity in Bollywood, he said that his company makes sure that both men and women working for them are paid well. After which Karan also gave an interesting hint, as he said that soon he will make an announcement, where a female star headlining his production ventures will also get a co-producer credit in the film. Karan added that apart from getting co-producer credits, some will also receive a profit share revenue from their films. Well it seems like Karan was hinting towards his next co-production venture with Deepika Padukone.
As recently there were news of Deepika Padukone signing a dark romantic thriller opposite Gully Boy fame actor, Siddhant Chaturvedi. The film will be directed by ‘Kapoor & Sons’ fame director, Shakun Batra, under Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions and co-produced by the leading lady herself. Reportedly Karan discussed the project with Deepika and as the actress loved the idea of the film, she decided to also come board as the co-producer of the film as well.
Well this won’t be the first time that Deepika will be co-producing a film. As the superstar lady will also be bankrolling Kabir Khan’s ’83 with Reliance Entertainment, Phantom Films and Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment. Deepika in the film will also be seen essaying the role of Ranveer Singh’s on-screen wife, Kapil Dev’s wife, Romi Dev. The film will hit the screens on 10th April 2020.
