Deepika Padukone will be seen playing the role of Suhana Khan's mother in this action drama. Her character plays an important part in the plotline as she also portrays the role of the former lover of Shah Rukh Khan's character, who has now turned into an assassin. The film will mainly focus on SRK's battle against the deadly villain, played by Abhishek Bachchan.

The film won't be an official remake of Leon: The Professional, but it will have many similarities. For instance, Deepika's character and past love affair were not part of the original film or its Hindi remake, Bicchoo, starring Bobby Deol and Rani Mukerji. Director and writer Siddharth Anand has made notable changes to the script, which was previously approved by Sujoy Ghosh, who eventually quit the project.
