Actress Manisha Koirala, who is back to Bollywood after a valiant fight with cancer, will make her comeback with Sunaina Bhatnagar's Dear Maya, a touching film about a woman living in isolation and the director revealed why she only wanted Manisha for the lead role.

During an interview to a leading daily, Sunaina said, ''I needed a strong actress and someone who can be vulnerable and strong at the same time. Who can be better than her? Looking at her body of work, one can safely say that no one else would have portrayed this role better than her. She has always done intriguing characters and has been up for unconventional roles. She was an obvious choice for me. I didn't want anyone who is so glamorous that she becomes unbelievable and Manisha can effortlessly carry both the looks.''

The film revolves around two girls, who play a prank on a lonely woman Maya (Manisha) by writing her love letters, which suggest that Maya has a secret admirer. The prank takes a more serious turn when the local woman goes missing and the two girls vow to find her.

Dear Maya' is directed by Sunaina Bhatnagar, who previously assisted Imtiaz Ali on films like Jab We Met, Love Aaj Kal and Rockstar. It is scheduled to release on June 2.
