The incident occurred late Tuesday night when Shah was out walking her dogs. She recorded and later shared a video on her Instagram account showing a blaze in a neighbouring flat and accusing campaign teams of bursting crackers near residential blocks, igniting the fire. Watch the video below:
Shah expressed shock and anger, condemning what she described as a “lack of civic sense” among those involved in the election promotion. In her social media post, she wrote that while she has “nothing to do with any political party,” campaign teams should exercise basic judgment and avoid endangering residents’ safety. “It ain’t a natural calamity, it’s caused by brainless people,” she said, urging accountability for the incident.
According to the Jai Ho Actress, the campaigners fled the scene after the fire started, leaving residents to deal with the aftermath. She also highlighted that her building committee had refused permission for election teams to conduct door-to-door campaigning within the complex.
Local authorities, including the Mumbai Fire Brigade, responded promptly and brought the blaze under control, and no injuries have been reported so far. However, initial official reports have not confirmed fireworks as the fire’s definitive cause, and the fire department is continuing its investigation.
