Prime Video, one of the largest streaming platforms in India and worldwide, continues its disappointing run on OTT with their latest release, "Dahaad". An eight-episode webseries starring Sonakshi Sinha, Gulshan Devaiah, Sohum Shah, Vijay Varma, Manyuu Doshi, and Yogi Singha came in with a promising environment but couldn't live up to it.
Reema Kagti, who is known for delivering intense content (which hasn't done too well at the box office), has been said to be suitable for the OTT audience. Therefore, Dahaad became more important for her and the audiences who enjoy watching her kind of cinema. However, the content didn't click, despite its thrilling atmosphere and ensemble cast.
What Dahaad lacked was a solid buzz and, more importantly, word of mouth. Be it a pre-release scenario or post-release buzz, Dahaad hardly had any roar. The much-talked-about press conference of its trailer is remembered for the friendly taunt on Vijay Varma and his personal affairs, while the post-release period barely has anyone talking about it. Even talented actors like Vijay Varma and Sohum Shah have been wasted here.
Prime Video recently had a massive disappointment with the mega-budget "Citadel," and within a month, they had another flop show. The box office windows have transparency to tell you what is a hit and what is a flop, but the OTT is untraceable, hence it covers a lot of people from the humiliation process. A show with the title Dahaad was supposed to make some roar, but sadly, nothing has gone in their favour. Hopefully, Prime Video will be back with a bang.
