Dadasaheb Phalke Awards

The recipients of this year's Dadasaheb Phalke awards was announced at a press conference on April 24. The award ceremony will take place on Phalke Jayanti to be held on April 30 this year. It is one of the most prestigious awards given for contribution to cinema.

The Phalke Academy has been giving these awards to seniors in the industry. It also honours forgotten artistes who have contributed to the growth and development of films. This year's awards will be conferred on veteran filmmaker BR Chopra, the leading star of the seventies, Rajesh Khanna, and the yesteryear actress Shyama. While Chopra will be receiving the Phalke Ratna, Khanna will receive the Phalke Legend Actor award. Actress Shyama will receive the Phalke Golden Era Actor Award. The actress made her mark in films like Aar Paar, Barsaat Ki Raat and Bhai Bhai.
